Repair by Mail/Delivery Service
1.Send it to us

Takkyubin: You can send your computer by one of many services including Kuroneko, Sagawa, Pelican. You can ask them to pick up at your home or take your package to any Convenience store. The delivery services also provide specially designed boxes for shipping computers at a reasonable price. The cost of shipping is ¥ 1,000 - 2,000.

Japan Post Office by Yu-pack: You can call them for pick up at your home/office, or you may take it to your post office. The cost of shipping is comparable to Takkyubin.

Bike service: for quick same-day service in downtown Tokyo at a price slightly higher than the other two services.

2.Fill in the Diagnostic form. To assist us in servicing you better, fill in the printable form with a description of the symptoms which might be helpful in identifying the problem. Also indicate your name, address, description of equipment being sent, etc.

3.Problem Diagnosis
We will make a diagnosis and contact you by telephone or e mail. A technician will explain the problem to you and outline your repair options. He will advise you of the cost of repair. No work will be performed until we have consulted you by phone or e mail and you have approved the work to be done.
The cost of the diagnosis is ¥ 3,150. If you decline the repair, you will be charged only the diagnostic fee and return shipping fee.

4.Repair/IT Servicing
We provide a full range of IT repairs, both software and hardware solutions, for desktops and notebooks, PC's or Macs. We handle all types of software conflicts including viruses. Hardware repairs are our specialty, installing and swapping parts. We do internal repairs on notebooks. We service most brands, but are sometimes limited by the availability of parts in Japan.

5.Turn around time & Return Shipment
The turn around time for most repairs is 2-3 working days. If parts are required and need to be ordered, it may take longer. We will advise you of the approximate time required during diagnostic consultation. You can pick up your repaired equipment or we can send it by any of the services listed above. The customer pays the cost of shipping.

Payment Options
If you pay by "Furikomi" (Bank wire transfer by ATM or a teller, we will ship as soon as we have notification of payment, on the same day if received by 2pm. In this case, prepayment is required.
If your computer is returned by "Daibiki"(Collect).. The customer pays for the cost of the repair and return shipping upon delivery of the goods. Payment may be made by cash or credit card (after December 1, 2004). Credit card payments may be made only by shipping by Sagawa Kyubin.
If returned to you by "Daibiki" (collect) through the Japan Postal System. The postal system does not accept credit cards.
By picking up your computer at our office: We accept cash only. Gomen nasai.

Packing Tips
DESKTOP COMPUTER: In most cases, send the computer only. Do not send the monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. unless the keyboard or mouse are proprietary to your computer. If the problem involves a non-functioning PCMCIA card, USB peripheral, etc., send the affected part and driver (if you have it). Please consult with us before sending a printer or large peripheral. If you are not sure, call us.

LAPTOP COMPUTER: send the power adapter and cord, docking station, if you have one, and external optical drives.

FOR BOTH DESKTOPS AND LAPTOPS: if reinstallation of your operating system may be required: Send the original CD's or Floppy Discs for System recovery, System applications, Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office, applicable drivers, anti-virus software, etc.

PACKING: Allow ample space between your equipment and the shipping box for padding with bubble wrap, Styrofoam, wadded newspaper or cardboard for protection. Also have the shipper put on a label which designates the contents as "breakable", in Japanese 'kowaremono'.

On-site Service

A technician can come to your home or office. Within metropolitan Tokyo, the fee is ¥ 10,500 per hour with a one hour minimum. Travel fee is ¥ 5,250. We recommend that your equipment be shipped to our office when feasible. We have more equipment at our office to efficiently provide IT service. We can usually make a flat fee estimate for office repairs because such work can be scheduled with other work. When we do on-site work, we must charge for all time including waiting for computers to reboot, run scan discs, downloading, etc.
